Plastic Girl: Evolution - Chapter 1

Day 1
5

The chapters of my Plastic Girl trilogy are titled as days of Eva’s discovery and interaction with a brand new species that will either bring her salvation or her extinction. Day 1 marks the first day that she comes into contact with this species that will change what it means for her and every other living creature to be alive on her polluted lake.

Day 1 starts with a fishing trip. I will go as far as to claim, one of the strangest and most life-altering fishing trips of all time.

…On the days when the weather allowed it, Eva went fishing, just as many of the past inhabitants of the town used to do, as her father had done before her. Her dad had taught her the danger of idle hands and the value of a hard day's work. Fishing the polluted lake was a hard job, but one she took great pride in. It was the job she used to do with her dad, the job that had given him purpose and now gave her purpose….

Monster of the Week is a reader-supported publication. To receive new posts and support my work, consider becoming a free or paid subscriber.

A great deal of this series involves the connections that we form with our families that last longs after they are gone, the ones that we search in others once lost.

If you need to catch up, all previous content is available on the homepage. The weekly chapters will range from 5 minutes to a 40 minute listen. Just depends on how long the chapter runs.

Again, if you can wait, the series is available on ebook, paperback, and hardcover from all online retailers, to order from your local bookstore or library, and on my website www.wickedtreepress.com.

Monster of the Week
Plastic Girl Audiobook
Author Jessica Maison narrates a chapter a week from her ecopunk sci-fi trilogy, starting with the prequel novella, Plastic Girl: Evolution.
"Maison has crafted an enigmatic, surreal castaway tale that ultimately pays off with a suspenseful account of a fight for survival... An eerie and somewhat elusive SF tale that takes plastic recycling to the next level." - Kirkus Review
