The chapters of my Plastic Girl trilogy are titled as days of Eva’s discovery and interaction with a brand new species that will either bring humanity salvation or extinction. Chapter Eight is Day 1,640. In this chapter, Eva returns to the island after leaving Iris alone for the night. She discovers that Iris has made a new creature, one she had not expected and fears.
If you need to catch up, all previous content is available on the homepage. The weekly chapters will range from 2 minutes to a 40 minute listen. Just depends on how long the chapter runs. Start with Day 1.
Eva's lip trembled a bit. It had been just her and Iris for two years now. Things had been going so great. Their small region was healing. Iris told her if they kept working, maybe someday the whole world would heal, and Eva believed her. Iris always knew what to do, how to make something just so, create just the right creature for a specific job. She could also make creatures so much faster than Eva. She directed them with her mind and they would go to where she needed them to go. She was connected to all of their creations in a way Eva was not. Maybe Iris and this new someone would be closer, more connected, just right for each other.
A great deal of this series involves the connections that we form with our families that last long after they are gone, the connections we search for in others once lost. The rest of this series explores what might happen if our pollution and waste become part of us, and how Mother Nature might turn that connection into new life.
Again, if you would rather read the series, it is available on ebook, paperback, and hardcover from all online retailers. You can also order the books from your local bookstore or library, and they are available on my website www.wickedtreepress.com.
