The chapters of my Plastic Girl trilogy are titled as days of Eva’s discovery and interaction with a brand new species that will either bring humanity salvation or extinction. Chapter Six is Day 1,053. In this chapter, we meet plastic girl, a sister for Eva - introducing a complex sibling relationship that will define the series.
If you need to catch up, all previous content is available on the homepage. The weekly chapters will range from 2 minutes to a 40 minute listen. Just depends on how long the chapter runs. Start with Day 1.
The boat brushed the sandy bottom of the lake, and as the stem of the boat crossed over the sandbar, Eva held her breath, praying that the island's magic would work on a human just as it had on her other animals, hoping that those eyes would light up. Eva whispered, "Iris, please wake up." Long moments passed, and the girl on the other side of the boat remained inanimate and motionless. The rhythmic water lapping against the side of the boat accentuated the plastic girl’s stillness.
A great deal of this series involves the connections that we form with our families that last longs after they are gone, the connections we search for in others once lost. The rest of this series explores what might happen if our pollution and waste become part of us, and how Mother Nature might turn that connection into new life.
Again, if you can wait, the series is available on ebook, paperback, and hardcover from all online retailers, to order from your local bookstore or library, and on my website www.wickedtreepress.com.
I love seeing comments on the chapters so if you have a moment, please leave one.
