Welcome to the Plastic Girl audiobook/podcast. I am narrating a chapter a week from my ecopunk sci-fi coming of age series so episodes will range from five to 15 minutes. This is the first episode and includes a brief introduction and the Prologue of the prequel novella of the Plastic Girl trilogy, Plastic Girl: Evolution.

Dedication:

for my daughters

and the children like them...

you will save the world

if we give you the chance

If you find yourself wanting to read ahead, the novella and three books of the series are available at all online retailers, to request from your local bookshop or library, and on my website www.wickedtreepress.com.

This audiobook is connected to the Monster of the Week substack so if you are a subscriber of MOW, you are automatically subscribed to this podcast as part of your subscription. However, if you only want monsters, you can easily remove yourself from this section (instructions at the bottom), but I do hope you stay because there is horror in this series and monsters of a sort.

Synopsis of Plastic Girl:

The Earth is ravaged by acidic water, toxic air and polluted land, but Eva, a lonely teenager, may have discovered the key to the planet’s salvation. Eva’s parents are dead and the last boy she loved might be trying to kill her. She is also dying of the same wasting disease that killed almost every other human on Earth. Despite all this, she constantly searches for life, hopes to find a friend, and wants to save her planet. One day, she discovers a new organism that she can mold into other living beings. With humanity on the verge of extinction, Eva begins dabbling in creating life, and with each choice she makes, it becomes frightfully clear that her creations will either save her species or end it.

“Maison has crafted an enigmatic, surreal SF castaway tale that ultimately pays off with a suspenseful account of a fight for survival… An eerie and somewhat elusive SF tale that takes plastic recycling to a new level.”

- Kirkus Review

Eva’s mysterious world is developed in a fantastical but thorough manner that makes it immersive. Its atmosphere is immediate and affecting, with tie-ins to the present that show what pollution and climate change, if unchallenged, could result in. Harsh realities are confronted throughout in a logical and involving way… In the fascinating world of the young adult novel Plastic Girl, teenagers confront the realities of climate change. It’s a compelling cautionary tale.

-Foreword Review

Join me, the author, in an audio exploration of this thrilling, frightening, and sometimes hopeful story of one girl trying to survive the apocalypse and save her planet.
