Hello Team Monster,
I wanted to start by thanking everyone who has pre-ordered The Killing Stone on Kickstarter. We are officially FULLY FUNDED and are moving on to STRETCH GOALS. We hope you find the Stretch Goal bonuses as epic as we find all of you!
There is still plenty of time to pre-order The Killing Stone and get all of these bonuses and more!
Tonight, I’m joining The Creative Cranium hosted by
where a group of creators will talk about writing horror.Deformed characters. Ominous settings. Ancient curses whispered at midnight! Join this week's Creative Cranium panel as we reveal... Techniques for Making Scarier Stories!
It’s a cool group and I’m super excited about. It’s live, so join us if you can this Friday night (tonight) at 7 PM PST/10 PM EST. If you are a writer or comic creator, come shout out your projects or Substacks and join the convo!
Earlier this week, I was also a guest on The Fanbase Weekly for their Interview With a Vampire: 30th Anniversary Introspective Episode.
The Fanbase Weekly co-host Bryant Dillon and special guests Eric Diaz (writer – The Nerdist), Don Aguillo (artist – Todd McFarlane’s Spawn, Fanbase Press’ The Sequels, Ripple Effects: The Deluxe Edition) Jessica Maison (writer, Mary Shelley’s School for Monsters), and Chris Thorne (sketch card artist – Star Wars, The Walking Dead, Alien 3) participate in a thorough discussion regarding Interview with the Vampire(1994) in light of the film’s 30th anniversary.
If you are feeling nostalgic for the film and want to listen to others who feel the same, it’s a great listen.
Finally, I wanted to share a few pages of art (not lettered yet) from my upcoming graphic novel and the second book in the Mary Shelley’s School for Monsters series, The Killing Stone.
In these pages, Medusa is furious. She’s been trying to restore order to the school after Shel and Frank opened a Hellhole in the forest. The newly released creatures and old students at the school are all giving into their rage and causing havoc. Medusa has realized all the monsters are fighting because of the influence of their newest student - NARI, an onryō or vengeful spirit. However, this same chaotic power will become critical when it comes to the team’s mission to track down Tamamo-no-Mae.
I’m also including the short comic of Forever Home for today. It tells the story about how the hellhole opened up in the first place. This is the first time Shel, Frank, and Necro appear together in a comic.
One of the Stretch Goals for The Killing Stone Kickstarter campaign is to include the Forever Home short in the printing of the graphic novel. Once we hit 10K, it will be included in The Killing Stone hardcover in its full color glory!

Leaving comments and sharing is the best! We hope to hear from you as we all head into an awesomely spooky weekend!
Next Friday, I’ll be dropping an update about the Plastic Girl audiobook. This week we are on break.
