Ammit (also Ammut, Ammet, Ahemait, Eater of the Dead ) is a monster from Egyptian mythology.

Her catchphrase is “Eat your Heart Out!”

Ammit at times has been referred to as a goddess, but she was not regarded as one by the ancient Egyptians. She was not worshipped only feared and revered. However, she did represent divine justice. She is most certainly a terrifying monster, a guardian demon, and a powerful divine entity that helped carry out the judgement of souls. She was also considered a powerful force of order and good. She was a guardian demon that dwelled in Duat with Osiris. Duat was the Egyptian underworld represented by a star in a circle. It was not like the western concept of hell. The creatures in Duat were there to teach the souls that arrived their valuable lessons. Ra, the sun god, travelled through Duat at night bringing light to the dead.
