Dear Lovely Beasties,
This morning, Necro informed the faculty at the school that it's the last four days of the Mary Shelley’s School for Monsters graphic novel campaign on Kickstarter. That seems urgent, like time is running out. Us monsters do love when that happens and usually always get involved in that moment. So, here we are! How truly exciting.
It’s Shel here, the supernatural version of Mary Shelley and headmistress at the School for Monsters, along with the other members of the monster crew - Necro, Frank, Will, and Medusa. As busy as we are rescuing monsters and fighting big baddies like Dr. M, we were too intrigued about having our adventures told in comic form not to get involved. We are truly thrilled about the next book in the series, The Killing Stone, illustrated by Anna Wieszczyk and written by Jessica Maison. We do hope you will find the story as thrilling as we found the mission. We traveled to Japan and faced off with the incredibly angry and powerful nine-tailed fox with the help of our newest student—Nari, a grudge spirit. I really didn't think I was going to make it through this harrowing tale and am so glad I survived to see it beautifully illustrated by Anna.
Writers and artists struggle promoting their books almost as much as they love interacting with their readers. But to have readers, they must promote their books. They call this a double-edged sword. I witnessed this with the human version of myself a long time ago. Now, I see it with Jessica and Anna. It truly is a specifically human problem. So, with that in mind, the monster crew showed up today to give the human team a small break and try our hands at talking about this campaign and graphic novel.
The campaign has been such a success, especially considering how many amazing graphic novel and comic projects are running in October. We're so proud of everyone on the team and grateful for all the students who have backed the book already. We'd love to have you join the celebration! It promises to be a monstrously epic one.
The team has already unlocked the premium vinyl firefox sticker bonus and bonus magical eBooks and digital comics. They are only one or two students away from hitting their 10K goal. When they do, the short comic Forever Home by Anna Wieszczyk and Jessica Maison will be included in the print and digital versions of The Killing Stone. It's a bonus story! I love those. This is the first time Frank and I appeared together in comic form on a monster-saving mission. While trying to help Shoggoth and Cthulhu, Necro got herself kidnapped by a cult that forced monsters to fight each other for their entertainment. Truly dreadful. The story involves us opening a hellhole in the primal woods that creates problems in the beginning of The Killing Stone.
When the campaign hits the next few stretch goal, the Firefox sticker, based on our beloved Eino, will be upgraded with a rainbow slick finish, and a new Halloween-themed sticker illustrated by Mark Mactal inspired by the film The Craft will be given to all backers. It features Mae, Medusa, Nari, and myself. It's quite witchy and adorable.
Consider this your personal invitation from the Headmistress and the faculty of the School for Monsters to join us as a student at our fine institution. Our gothic halls will be perfectly haunted with you there.
Pledge now to secure your spot and to get your rewards before time runs out.
Eternally yours,
Shel, Frank, Necro, Will, and Medusa
